Due to ongoing gathering restrictions in place caused by COVID-19, the Sprouts in the Park and Sprouts & the Symphony 2020 events were transformed into one big giant virtual concert for all String Sprouts levels to play along at home together with. We were so thrilled to again collaborate with Omaha Symphony on this concert.
During the virtual concert, the symphony musicians — Christopher Hake, Rico Amador, Jesse Griggs and Samuel Pierce-Ruhland — played the first movement of Antonin Dvorak’s “American Quartet” and pieces from the Sprouts repertoire such as “Pop Goes the Weasel” and “Boil Them Cabbage Down” along with OCM Executive Director Ruth Meints. Sprouts played along at home, where those watching their Sprouts in-person shared photos on social media with the hashtag #streamedsprouts. Pieces composed by winners of the annual Sprouts composition contest were also on the program.
Thank you again to all who helped make this event possible! A special shoutout to our sponsors Mutual of Omaha, Valmont Industries Inc. & Baxter Auto!
